Daniachew WorkuAfter some conversation about Daniachew's forthcoming novel, he turned to discussion of his The Thirteenth Sun, published by Heinemann Educational Books, African Writers Series... In story outline, The Thirteenth Sun is extremely simple. Goytom, the son of the aged Fitawrary Woldu accompanies his father on a pilgrimage to Zekwala monastery where the old man hopes to be cured of his illness. The trip is not a success, and Goytom takes the corpse away for burial... I think it is possible to put together a workable criterion from two supposedly defined types of the novel and create, not another confusing term, but a body of coherent and distinctive elements which will help to appraise the work of art. That is what I will attempt to do with Kadmas Bashagar, a novel by Baalu Germa...
